If you’ve lived in Shepherd Park Plaza, you might remember a heartwarming neighborhood tradition known as Plaza Chairs. It began with a simple idea: set a couple of chairs out in your front yard, relax, and be open to connecting with neighbors. The goal was to make it easier to wave, chat with passersby, and enjoy the community vibe.
And guess what? It worked. Soon, more and more neighbors were putting out chairs, especially in the evenings. Families sat outside after dinner, watched their kids ride bikes, shared drinks, and truly got to know each other. It was simple, but it made a lasting impact.
While it’s been a few years since Plaza Chairs were a regular sight in the neighborhood, there’s no reason we can’t bring it back this summer. No events or big plans—just grab a chair, head to your front yard, and enjoy the moment.
If you do join in, snap a photo, tag me, and use #PlazaChairs so we can support one another and inspire more neighbors to join. Let’s bring back the charm of front yard living—easy, laid-back, and genuinely fun.
